What is the Greysitting Exchange?

We are a group of people willing to pet sit your Greyhound(s) while you are away from home. This could be for a day, overnight, a weekend or for a vacation.

Who can use the Exchange?

Any member of the Southeastern Greyhound Club (SEGC) may use the exchange. So, plan for the unexpected and join the club today!

How does the Exchange work?

If you are a member of the Exchange, you must be willing to pet sit for others. If you need pet sitting services for your Greyhound(s), the cost is $5/dog/day. When you provide service to other members, you will be paid $5/dog/day. If you provide service to non-Exchange members, you will be paid $10/dog/day. Members are listed on the Exchange roster, so be sure to check your list before determining the price.

If you are not a member of the Greysitting Exchange and you need pet sitting services for your Greyhound(s), the cost is $10/dog/day. There is an obvious benefit to being a member of the Exchange!

As sitting takes place in the sitter's home, users of the service must supply their pet’s food and crate (if necessary). All dogs must be current on their vaccinations.

How do you become a member of the Greysitting Exchange?

Contact the coordinator, Helga Diggelman, to have your name added to the Exchange roster. You must be a member of SEGC, have owned a Greyhound for at least 6 months and be willing to pet sit. Please send us the following information:
  • Name, address (include Zip), phone number, email
  • Number of Greyhounds you have?
  • Is your Greyhound crated at night? When you're away?
  • Is your Greyhound cat tolerant?
  • Number of cats in your home? Other animals in your home?
  • Do you have a fenced yard?
  • Number of Greyhounds you are willing to sit?

When your information is received and membership in SEGC is verified, you will be added to the Exchange roster and mailed a copy by post or email. This process may take a week, so please plan ahead. If you are not a member of the exchange and you need pet sitting, contact the coordinator for a copy of the roster.

How do you use the Exchange?

Everyone makes his own sitting arrangements. The Exchange roster is arranged by zip code and city to help you locate the closest sitter. It is recommended that you contact possible sitters BEFORE you need the service, so you can be comfortable with the arrangements when you are gone.

For additional information email our Exchange coordinator, Helga Diggelman.
